Through its educational programs, ADCMW seeks to ensure the quality of future design professionals. Some of the programs offered to high school and college-level visual communications students include:
ADCMW sponsors this semi-annual event, which takes design students on a tour featuring three of the area’s prominent design firms. Conducted within the Metropolitan Washington, DC area, students will have a first-person account of the studio’s work, current design and hiring trends, as well as the opportunity to ask questions of the professionals who work there.

It’s not for graduating seniors any more!
This daylong event in the spring, will bring together design students and professionals for a series of break-out sessions on the latest trends in the design profession and individual reviews of students’ portfolios by the area hottest designers, art photographers, illustrators and photographers.
Career Day is designed to help prepare students for entry into professional design world.

The Real Show is an annual
competition giving college students the opportunity
to solve real-life communication design problems.
A panel of design professionals jury over the
student pieces, with the winning pieces displayed
in an exhibition, along with the actual real
world designs. Entry in the Real Show is a prerequisite for consideration for the Brian Brown Scholarship Program.

An annual competition in which students submit their portfolio to be reviewed by a panel of design professionals. Based solely on the merit of the students’ work, about $2,000 in scholarships are awarded each year. Entry is by invitation only, with students selected from entries to the Real Show.
